Famille Perrin - Les Crus

Famille Perrin Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc - Les Sinards - 2015

Presentation

This extremely rare wine comes from a 2.5 acre vineyard located within the "clos" around the historical pope’s palace. All of the viticulture is carried out by the Beaucastel team.

Ageing

The Roussanne was harvested on 4 September and the Grenache Blanc and Clairette on 12 September at full maturity. The terroir did not suffer from the hot summer in 2015, the acidities offer ideal balance for the whites that can be aged. The alcoholic fermentations were carried out in demi-muids (600L), as well as the malo-lactic fermentation, with a batonnage of the lees once a week for 3 months.

The vintage

2015 was a magnificent year in the south as well, characterized by excellent sanitary conditions thanks to the mild, wet winter, followed by a relatively hot, dry spring. The vines coped well with the extreme heat and lack of rain in the summer thanks to good hydric reserves. Following satisfactory flowering, rapid and regular ripening was assisted by rain that fell in August, producing berries rich in phenolic compounds and anthocyanins. As in the north, harvesting took place under excellent conditions.

Tasting

This 2015 presents a lot of richness and minerality. Expressive and complex, a bouquet of peach and pear notes, sweet spice and refined ageing notes. The palate is rich and sweet, with a lot of persistence, beautiful mineral tension accompanying a saline and gourmet finish.
